Dayo’s Music Biography

Dayo was born and bred in the city of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria (West Africa) but originally hails from Ekiti State in Nigeria, West Africa. He’s also known as Matt and some calls him Dee One (D1). His musical interest started when he was a teenager at age 9, and started his music ministry in the Church. Dayo’s father is the pillar behind his interest in music. After high school, he attended the University of Baltimore where he received a B.S. degree in Applied Information Technology with IT industry professional certifications. He has ministered in various musical concerts, churches, and events in the United States and other continents.
Dayo Akinyemi can be classified as a world-class saxophonist impacting the current generation. His genre of music is a fusion of contemporary American jazz with traditional African dynamics. Dayo’s musical and production abilities are so diverse that no two songs sound alike. He is a seasoned musician, an entrepreneur and a business development expert. Because of Dayo’s love for music, it is no surprise that he’s involve in music production and also acts as a full time music consultant to other organizations.
His favorite teams are Arsenal FC, Los Angeles Lakers and the Baltimore Ravens.
He is happily married to Opeyemi and blessed with two beautiful daughters Olamiposi and Adebola.
