Dayo was born and bred in the city of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria (West Africa) but originally hails from Ekiti State (Nigeria). He's also known as Matt and some calls him Dee One (D1). His musical interest started when he was a teenager at age 12, and started his music ministry in the Church.
Dayo's father is the pillar behind his interest in music. After high school, he attended the University of Baltimore where he received a B.S. degree in Applied Information Technology with IT industry professional certifications. He has ministered in various musical concerts, churches, and events in the United States and other continents.
Dayo Akinyemi can be classified as a world-class saxophonist impacting the current generation. His genre of music is a fusion of contemporary American jazz with traditional African dynamics.
Dayo's musical and production abilities are so diverse that no two songs sound alike. He is a seasoned musician whose day time job is network consultant. Because of Dayo's love for music, it is no surprise that he's involve in music production and also acts as a full time music consultant to other organizations.
He is a trained musician and his music inspiration comes from God; he identifies with other musicians such as Yolanda Admas, John Coltrane, Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright, Mike Phillips, Israel Houghton amongst others.
Dayo also has a charity organization called the Dayo Akinyemi Foundation (DAF) whose sole purpose is to make life better for other people.
His favorite teams are Arsenal FC, Los Angeles Lakers and the Baltimore Ravens.
